Te Aka Mātauranga Matepukupuku is excited to announce a creative opportunity to support researchers and whānau to attend the World Indigenous Cancer Conference (W.I.C.C. 2026) in Rotorua (April 20–24)!
Send in a 60-90 video of your abstract and be in to win a $745 prize package that includes
- Early bird registration to W.I.C.C 2026
- Ticket to the conference dinner
- Tickets to two breakfast symposia
Eligibility: This opportunity is open to individuals or teams who have already submitted an abstract to W.I.C.C 2026.One entry per submitted abstract will be accepted. The prize may be used to support any team member to attend. Submissions from early-career researchers are strongly encouraged.
This is a chance to showcase your work, inspire others, and be part of a global Indigenous cancer research community. To get involved, create your 60–90 second video pitch of your abstract and submit it via the abstract portal by 8 November 2025.
What might your submission look like?
- Whakanuia: We want to see your creativity shine, whether that’s by kōrero or composition (e.g. pao, waiata, or poem). Whatever works to bring your research to life! Share your kaupapa in a way that is authentic to you, your team, and/or your community.
- Nau mai ngā Reo: Indigenous languages are encouraged. Please do add subtitles in English so that your message can reach even further.
- He aha te ngako? Focus on the main gist of your abstract and save the detail for W.I.C.C. 2026.
- Remember your audience: The W.I.C.C 2026 audience will be Indigenous researchers, health professionals, policy makers, community leaders, practitioners, and advocates from across the globe
Screening Event: Hei Ara Auaha: A creative path to W.I.C.C. 2026
We celebrate your Indigenous research, creativity, and leadership by hosting an event to screen all of the accepted videos. More details about the event will be announced closer to the time. Prize winners will be announced at this event!
